Among these, the centromeric sequences “gene-gene” (EG), which is very similar to the *Rag1* locus. Interestingly, the above-mentioned GED sequences are significantly more frequent (55-89%) in the human germline than in the mouse genome \[[@CR4]\]. The mammalian *Rag1* locus has a variety of sequences that contain the CpG islands of the *Rag1* gene, and the ENCGRP-like sequence found in other centromeric sequences has therefore been expected to be of greater functional importance. This suggests that *Rag1* polymorphism could affect one of the most conserved GEDs in the mouse *Rag1* locus, yet there is no clear correlation between *Rag1* polymorphism and genome-wide methylation level \[[@CR5]\].
